Time is asking readers to choose the worst cover in the magazine’s 85-year history.
Hard to believe, but the classic "Good Life in Minnesota" cover is in the running. This image of Gov. Wendell Anderson hoisting a northern is a Minnesota icon. The article explored the Minnesota Miracle — an overhaul of education funding, tax policy and public finance — and helped cement the state’s reputation as a can-do place. (Of course, Anderson later torpedoed his political career by appointing himself to replace Vice President Walter Mondale in the U.S. Senate. And the legacy of the Minnesota Miracle is now a controversial shambles. But those are other stories.)
So far, voting has the "Good Life" cover hovering in 12th place. Lots of people are voicing an opinion on this one — the Minnesota issue is among the top three in total votes cast.
